William H. Carmel, Esq. received his B.A. in Political Science from Boston University. Mr. Carmel attended New York Law School where he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1996. Mr. Carmel has represented individuals in legal matters involving immigration, personal injury, domestic violence and DUI/DWI. Mr. Carmel is licensed in New York and New Jersey.

Melissa Aaron-Cooper is a foreign- qualified attorney, with over ten years of legal expertise. Melissa is a 2006 graduate of the University of London, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree. Melissa also graduated from the University of Oxford, where she holds a post graduate diploma in legal practice. After relocating to the United States, Melissa completed her Master of Laws Degree with a concentration in International and Comparative law.
Melissa has been a passionate advocate for immigrants since moving to the United States. She ran a successful solo immigration practice in New York City, primarily focused on business immigration- H-1B, L-1 and Perm filings- before joining the team at William H. Carmel.
At William H. Carmel, Melissa primarily handles complex asylum cases, from USCIS asylum interviews to trials before the immigration judge. Melissa also handles Adjustment of Status Petitions, Provisional Waivers of Unlawful Presence, U visas, T visas, VAWA Self Petitions and Naturalization Applications.
Monica Kazemi graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University. Ms. Kazemi further pursued her passion for legal justice and graduated cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Ms. Kazemi is licensed in California and New Jersey.
Ms. Kazemi handles all the Firm's Deportation and Removal cases before the U.S. Immigration Courts throughout the United States. Ms. Kazemi also prepares the Firm's EOIR appeals including appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Ms. Kazemi also handles matters before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. In addition to representing and assisting clients in their alien relative petitions, adjustment of status applications and naturalization applications.
Ms. Kazemi also has extensive experience in family related matters.
Mr. Chapman graduated from the University of New Haven in Connecticut, where he earned a degree in English with a concentration in writing. He earned his juris doctor from Touro Law School in New York, where he received awards for pro bono service and excellence in employment law.
Before become an immigration attorney, Mr. Chapman gained extensive experience in the court system. He served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Walter J. Koprowski and the Honorable Ned Rosenberg, both of the Superior Court of New Jersey. He also served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Miguel de la Carrera of the Superior Court of New Jersey criminal division in Paterson, New Jersey. In addition, Mr. Chapman interned for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office as well as for Essex Newark Legal Services of New Jersey.
Since becoming an immigration attorney, Mr. Chapman has handled immigration matters at all phases of the process, ranging from affirmative asylum interviews to cases before the Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. A prolific writer, he handles motions, briefs, and petitions before the immigration courts, Board of Immigration Appeals, as well as federal and state courts. His training in the court system and background in criminal law has been a valuable asset to undocumented citizens and lawful permanent residents seeking post-conviction relief, relief from prolonged and unlawful detention, and advisals on plea negotiations. Mr. Chapman is a member of the New Jersey bar.
Mayra LaMantia has over eight years of experience in immigration law. Mrs. LaMantia immigrated from Guatemala to the United States at the age of 4. Her personal experience and story drove her to work in the immigration field. Her attitude, ability to wear multiple caps helped Mrs. LaMantia grow and flourish into the company's Office Manager. Mrs. LaMantia received her Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State University, she also attained an Advanced Certificate in Immigration Law Studies from CUNY, at this time she is pursuing her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource.
In addition to handling the firm's logistical and administrative matters, Mrs. LaMantia handles family-based immigration cases specializing in Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), I-601A Waivers, U and T Visas. She also has extensive knowledge in removal defense and detainee matters. As the firm's office manager, Mrs. LaMantia will monitor the progress of your case and make sure you are satisfied with the firm’s services.
